How to Set the Perfect Table

This may sound rudimentary, but it’s easy to get overwhelmed if you don’t do this every day. Trust us…it’s a lot easier than you think!

Here’s how to set the perfect table:

1. If ordered, start by laying down your table cloth.

2. Place your runner down the center of your table. If your look includes a garland, now is the perfect time to put that down and fill the rest of your table around it. Don’t forget to fluff and reshape your garland leaves.

3. Set the chargers or placemats at each place setting. Then add the dinner and salad plates stacked on top of each other. Serving a plated entrée? Set the salad plates and keep the dinner plates in the kitchen until it’s time to serve.

4. Choose where to place your napkin. Common placements are on the left side of the plate, folded on the salad plate, or under the dinner plate. Feel free to get creative and find fun ways to fold a dinner napkin!

5. For a traditional table setting, the forks are on the left of the plate and the knife and spoon are on the right with the knife blade facing towards the plate.

6. Glassware goes on the upper right side of the plate above the silverware. Typically, the wine glass is on the outside with water on the inside.

7. Place any other décor items such as candlesticks and votives throughout the runner and/or garland. (Pro tip…trim the wick of your candle tapers to 1/8” and they won’t drip as much)
